Im currently standing in the kitchen if my home one frozen hand wrapped tightly around a freshly brewed cup of coffee as I reflect on what has already happened this morning and the hundreds of other things that I will do today as just a small part of my daily life and thought I would share.
Let’s start with bedtime – I went to bed at 1:30 this morning after finishing a paper in Eastern vs. Western cultural differences and fighting with a 3 year old who was quite insistant that I not worry he was only going to watch Thomas on Netflix. My first alarm went off at 6:15, I rolled myself out of bed 2minutes later to wake up my 11 year old so she could do whatever it is she does to get ready for school which this morning consisted of laying in bed until 6:35. At 6:40 I brewed a pot of coffee at 7 the second alarm went off. This is the official wake up the hubby/ time to get out the door for middle and high school kids alarm. Only problem this morning aforementioned middle schooler was still in the shower. 7:05 playing spider solitare on cellphone and getting annoyed made lunch for kindergartener. 7:20 (time 1st bell rings at school) finally walking out the door into an almost frozen state of cold wind. 7:30 drop now moody preteen off at school who is annoyed at me for not writting a tardy excuse but the rule is if its not my fault your late no excuse.
Anyhoo…..head back home (insert 1st cup of coffee and writting of this post) wake up hubby who is attempting to pretend he’s sleeping like the dead. Also wake up 5 year old which means peels of laughter. Make sure he has backpack with lunch in it and coat. Head out the door at 8:30. Gas light is on so put gas in van, go to store with still sleeping 3 year old who makes faces in his sleep in regards to the changing if temperatures. Go back home, open up medical terminology book, take 2 pages worth of notes when 3 year old awakes and asks to watch Thomas. Clean house (back permitting) think about how nice it would be to take a nap but 3 year old is in full play mode. Prepare to go pick kindergartener from school, then pick up now certifiably pissed off middle schooler who complains there’s nothing to eat. Gi back to the store simply because I know I had to have forgotten something for dinner. Go home. Help with homework( not mine – no one ever wants to help with mine) start dinner. Hubby isn’t home yet so set DVR to record his Monday night tv stuff. Make 5 and 3 year old put on PhD. Turn on kindle to try to read chapter for class. Put 5 year old in bed. Hour later tell 11year old to follow suit. Fight with 3 year old for next hour + to go to bed.
Finally get in bed, fall asleep almost instantly then alarm rings again……*sigh* a new day
Hope you enjoy yours 🙂
I am a stay at home mom which means when I get sick the world as my crew knows it ceases to revolve. Nothing gets done, no one can find anything, and I don’t get any rest. That’s pretty much been the case this week. Monday I was fine, Tuesday I was in horrible shape. I was wearing a winter coat in 70 degree weather, I had on my thickest pajama pants and a hoody and I was still freezing. My legs hurt so bad I couldn’t stand and all I wanted to do was sleep. Luckily my husband took pity on me and at 8:30 I was out like a light. Granted the house wasn’t perfect but it was a sight better to what I woke up to Wednesday morning. My two youngest boys had drug the laundry out into the hallway, the youngest had dumped two bags of popcorn on the floor, there was food all over the place and home was totally unrecognizable. So as my daughter got ready for school I cleaned up. I still wasn’t 100% but I was well enough to get my house cleaned up before someone fell and broke their head. The fever is gone and for the most part so is the stuffy nose but I’ve got this chest hurting cough that comes and goes. Although I’m not moving about at the speed of light I can tell that had the majority of my illness lasted more than a day this household would of been screwed.
Today is another one of those ho hum days. The sun is shining it’s warm and beautiful outside but I’ve been stuck in the house all day. Not that I’ve been unproductive but we so rarely get nice weather in Washington that when it does make an appearance it’s nice to go out and enjoy it. Earlier in the day I had made plans to hang out with my sis (as is home – she’s also on wordpress check her out great stuff going on over there) but seeing as one of my little ones has been running a fever and feeling crummy it’s safer to just stick to inside the house besides there is oh so much homework to do *sigh* but really who wants to do homework or housework when it’s a great day? So here I sit writing a blog post instead of continuing with my studies. For those judgmental types I have done almost all of my homework for the week for all 3 classes now it’s just time for all the review type stuff. Dinner is in the crock pot and smells oh so good, my little one who isn’t feeling well is watching tv and resting, my other little one is being well 2 (LOL) and so another day in my life is coming to an end. I know there will be other sunny days, days where my entire crew is feeling well and we can go play in the sun I just wish in my heart of hearts that today was that day. Until tomorrow be well 🙂
Today I’m tackling the screens. We have lived in this house for almost a year and a half, in that time I think I have cleaned the screens once. I mean really who REALLY thinks about their screens? As long as they are doing their job not much thought goes into them (you know I’m right it’s ok to admit it). Sometimes it’s nice to be able to see through them also and at my house today is the lucky day. The two I have already done look wonderful. Next on todays list is the garden.
